The Datacenter
BurstNET operates the largest high-tech data center in the Northeastern United States. With POPs (points of presence) in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Philadelphia, BurstNETis home to our new line of dedicated servers and web hosting services. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) helps route traffic around any bottlenecks from 4+ redundent, tier 1 transit providers providing 1000Mbps (gigabit) links each and tied in to the datacenter’s OC48, 2048Mbps SONET fiber-optic ring. The facility currently offers 11,000 square feet of space and is constantly expanded. Features include 24x7x365 monitoring, UPS and deisel generator power protection, redundent air conditioning, raised flooring, and pro-active network security monitoring including Intrusion Detection (IDS).

Green Power
The BURSTNET Green Power/Operations initiative currently encompasses the following:
- Renewable Energy Certificates – Purchase renewable energy credits to offset facility usage
- Server Consolidation – Consolidating Virtual Hosting servers & utilizing virtualization technology
- Ventilation System – Utilizing exterior air in cooler months, and heating the building from output
- LCD Monitors – Replacing older CRT monitors with newer energy efficient/saving LCD models
- Energy Efficient Lighting – Replacing older lighting fixtures with newer technology
- Motion Sensors – Limiting usage of lighting in areas with limited foot traffic
- Lights-Off Policy – Power down of office equipment/workstations for off-shift employees
- Recycling – Ongoing collection of material and delivery to recycling facility
- Energy Efficient Power Supplies – Shifting to more efficient PSUs for new system builds
- Green Servers – Release new product line specially designed for energy efficiency/reduction
- UPS Efficiency – Utilizing newer, more-efficient systems and usage loading to efficient levels
- Equipment Recycling/Resale – Sale of older/non-utilized equipment, for others to re-utilize
